About me

I am a Ph.D. student in public history at North Carolina State University. My research centers on the public’s interactions with medieval history through cultural heritage sites and through the display of medieval objects in museums. I am also interested in digital humanities, GIS, and medievalisms in popular culture.

I graduated from Butler University in 2018 with a B.A. in history and classics, and a minor in anthropology. I then moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to complete my M.Sc. in medieval history at the University of Edinburgh. My master’s thesis addressed the construction of genders in early medieval northern Britain, focusing on material culture’s role in gender presentation.

I currently work in the summers with the Castles in Communities Project at Ballintober Castle in Ballintober, Co. Roscommon, Ireland as a community liaison and educator.

I am an active member of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) and currently serve as a co-chair for the Student Affairs Interest Group (SAIG). SAIG was established in 2003 by sixteen graduate student AIA members with the shared goal of ensuring that the voices of all student members of the AIA are heard and supported as future leaders of the field.
